• RC puts up a large cross and puts his date of arrival on the island on it, September 30, 1659. He also cuts a notch into it for every day.
• Two cats and a dog from the ship accompany Crusoe on the island.
• Crusoe records the “Good and Evil” circumstances of his situation.
